IndoorAtlas is based in Oulu, Helsinki and Mountain View, CA. We develop a unique, cloud based indoor positioning service that is available for everyone. Our engineering group located in Oulu and Helsinki needs more brainpower, and we are now looking for an experiencedFrontend Developer to join our engineering team!



About the role

The core technology behind IndoorAtlas runs in the cloud, offering an always-up-to-date, infrastructure-free positioning service for app developers. New features are introduced seamlessly, and made available worldwide at the same time. The cloud-powered service also provides developers with an easy access to their data. We are beginning development on several new product tracks and tools for our customers’ self-service use, and as a Frontend Developer, you will have a key role in developing the functionality and user experience of our offering. In this role you will have a unique opportunity to work on a ground-breaking technology on its way to power indoor location-based apps worldwide and bring forth new inventions.



Expectations for this position:  

1) After the first 6 months:

  • You’ve contributed significantly to a new product or made remarkable improvements to the tools available to our customers, partners and developer community
  • You’re a key member of our engineering team, shaping the product to best serve our customers
  • You’ve contributed to the way we implement our applications by introducing new tools, technologies or best practices to the whole team    

2) After your first year:

  • You’re a core team developer with significant contribution to our overall customer experience
  • You’ve developed several capabilities in a key role within our expanding product offering    



Success factors in this role  

Do you have curiosity and excitement for new web technologies and techniques? Do you enjoy crafting beautiful and high performing web applications leveraging the latest frontend development methodologies, tools, and techniques? Then this might be the job for you. We mostly use Angular and Node.js for our web frontends with Java, Cassandra and various other technologies working behind the scenes through REST APIs.  

You will be working with engineers in two locations, Helsinki and Oulu. You need to enjoy being part of a distributed team in order to like this position. As every start-up on its way to the top, we have quick turns and big objectives. If that scares you, you are probably better off in a more established company.

This is what we are looking to find in your application:

  • Hands-on experience of modern frontend frameworks for responsive, highly usable applications
  • Demonstrable understanding of RESTful, cloud-powered web application development
  • Proficiency in and passion for creating highly usable, visual and information-rich applications
  • Start-up background or other demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Good communication skills combined with self-direction
  • An example of a tool, app or service you have created independently
  • Curiosity to learn new technologies  

Inspiration and aspiration for full-stack development role are considered as a plus.
