Job purpose

The contribution of Fraud Operations Analyst’s role is to view the newest fraud patterns, develop rapid responses and apply knowledge to predictive measures. In doing so, the job holder must adhere to clear operational targets while actively contributing to the strategic development of the team through their insights and additional project work.

 

Fraud Operations Analyst’s key responsibilities are:

  • Research, monitor and block users with fraudulent behaviour; block or restrict the related entities of detected fraudulent activity.
  • Analyse fraudulent patterns, describe, test and define fraudulent activities.
  • Meet the daily and weekly monitoring thresholds.
  • Identify potential improvements in the fraud processes, services and tools.
  • Propose preventative measures to minimize potential revenue losses. Help design patterns to feed into automated blocking systems.
  • Identify problems (and corresponding stakeholders), describe the situation, expected outcome and file bugs of detected errors.
  • Advise key stakeholders in fraud related questions where necessary.
  • Maintain a high level of awareness of current and emerging fraud and abuse risks, prevention techniques and technologies.
  • Perform and/or support ad-hoc projects in a timely manner, as requested.

 

Required knowledge, experience and skills

  • Previous work experience with e-commerce – preferably a high tech company, a financial or payment services provider.
  • Knowledge and experience of online payment solutions.
  • Experience in online payment fraud analysis and prevention is a plus.
  • Strong capabilities in Microsoft products and services.
  • SQL and other computer/query languages experience is a plus.
  • Conceptual understanding of VoIP technology.
  • Ability to deal comfortably with daily recurring tasks.
  • Analysis skills.
  • Reporting skills.
  • Strong team player.
  • Able to take initiative in order to uncover new patterns of fraud.
  • Excellent spoken and written English.
