Intel has announced a major expansion of Intel's production capacity in Europe and plans to develop two first of their kinds semiconductor fabs in Magdeburg, Germany, the capital of Saxony-Anhalt. Planning has started, with construction expected to begin in the first half of 2023 and production planned to come online in 2027, pending European Commission approval.



In this position you will work as part of an overall Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) team and will be primarily responsible for the development, co-ordination, continuous improvement and management of specific safety programs and processes onsite to ensure compliance with legislative, corporate, ISO standards and industry requirements which may also involve close liaison

with other EHS engineers - Environmental, Industrial Hygiene, Ergonomists etc. and other site stakeholders. Examples of site safety programs include Seveso, Confined Space, Control of Hazardous Energies, Working at Heights, and Electrical Safety. In addition, you will support the overall EHS management system and ISO 45001 standard as applicable which will involve close liaison with EHS engineers.

Job requirements

Your responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • This role entails intensive planning and design efforts in various areas of this function, for this project and related projects
  • Facilitate and document PHAs including HAZOP, FMEA, What-If, LOPA.
  • Prepare/maintain reports for site, global and/or regulatory agencies as required including the Explosion Protection Document, Safety Report, etc.
  • Provide process safety technical support to stakeholders during the introduction/changes of systems and equipment to the site.
  • Liaise with regulatory authorities as required.
  • Fostering and instilling a strong EHS safety culture in which procedural adherence, operational excellence and result orientation are also key foundational aspects.
  • Maintain and develop relationships with a wide range of internal partner organisations
  • Provide EHS advice, assistance and support to Line Management and departments as applicable.
  • Conduct regular audits to ensure compliance to regulatory requirements and internal standards.
  • Monitoring and analysing EHS data / reports to identify trends, define focus areas and reporting and communicating for both internal and external audiences as required.
  • Act as the subject matter expert in relation to assigned EHS programmes.
  • Development and completion of risk assessments - area and task related.
  • Support accident/event investigation and root cause analysis.
  • Work collaboratively with other technical people in a fast-paced goal driven environment.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A minimum of a Bachelors degree in chemical engineering or science related discipline and have completed either a Post. Grad. Diploma or MSc. in an occupational safety and/or process safety discipline
  • 5+ years of work experience in an industrial, or related, EHS role.
  • Good overall knowledge of EHS legislative legal requirements and best practices.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Fluent in German and English, both written and spoken.
  • In-dept knowledge and experience in process safety including ATEX, PHAs and Seveso.
  • Utilize effective oral and written communications to interact with customers around EHS matters.
  • A high tolerance for ambiguity and change due to the dynamic nature of the business.
  • Ability to work in a team with minimum direction. Self-motivator with own initiative.
  • Ability to influence senior management decisions and program implementations
  • Demonstrate efficient work methods, analytical and problem-solving skills, and ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of EHS Management Systems and their practical application to industry.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills, both verbal and written and the ability to present and explain EHS data to both technical and non-technical forums.
  • Willingness to build and foster a strong EHS culture
