

The purpose of the Data Scientist is to analyze and interpret airline and airport operational data to support strategic decision-making, improve efficiency, and unlock insights that enhance the overall customer and passenger experience. The person will identify trends and improvement opportunities and collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive operational performance and continuous improvement.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Analyze and interpret operational data from airlines and airports to uncover trends, patterns, and actionable insights that support operational and strategic decisions.
- Create impactful reports, dashboards, and data visualizations to communicate insights clearly to internal stakeholders.
- Collaborate with Business Development, Product, and Development teams to gather requirements and deliver data-driven proof-of-concept (PoC) solutions.
- Conduct exploratory data analysis (EDA) and contribute to data quality assessments to ensure data accuracy, completeness, and reliability, in collaboration with data engineers.
- Conduct ad-hoc analyses and investigative deep dives to address specific operational challenges or identify root causes of anomalies.
- Develop forecasting models and data-driven simulations to predict operational performance and demand trends.
- Stay abreast of industry developments and emerging analytics practices to continuously bring innovative data solutions to operational problems.
- Communicate findings and model outcomes through data storytelling and visualizations for internal stakeholders.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Systems, Statistics, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in a data science, machine learning, or advanced analytics role, preferably—but not necessarily—in operational or transportation-related domains (e.g., aviation, logistics, or supply chain).
- Demonstrated experience translating business and operational challenges into analytical solutions.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to work with large, complex datasets.
- Proficiency in SQL and one or more analytical or statistical tools (e.g., Python, R).
- Experience building dashboards using tools like Tableau, Power BI, or equivalent.
- Familiarity with AI model lifecycle and monitoring (e.g., MLOps practices).
- Experience working on data-driven proofs of concept or pilot projects.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, especially in cross-functional teams.
- Good organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Understanding of Agile methodologies and iterative development cycles.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment and handle ambiguity.
- Familiarity with Databricks or similar big data platforms is a plus.
