About the department
The Data Management & Analytics team is an international, high performing team with a variety of technical and analytical backgrounds. The responsibilities of Data Management & Analytics ranges from data acquisition/ingestion, data analysis, and data engineering, to evangelizing the opportunity to apply data and advanced analytics, initiating analytical initiatives and supporting data science users of our platform. We have built and are operating the data lake and data science platform on Amazon Web Services (AWS) to support our mission; and we are continuously developing and extend the platform. The overarching goal is to use data to gain new understandings and insights, and to ensure we deliver value to our stakeholders and the business.
We are currently 13 internal and external employees in 3 different locations in India, USA and Denmark with various titles such as IT Architect, System Analyst and Data Engineer. We are planning to expand our offerings to the global organization, particularly in the data engineering space, why we need an extra resource to succeed with our journey and ambitious vision.
The department is four years old and anchored within Digital Incubator & Innovation. It is part of the Global IT organization, consisting of approx. 1000 employees globally.
The position
As Data Engineer, you will act as trusted advisor to provide technical expertise and guidance for all the components that makes up the data lake and data science eco-system. Our data lake consists of data acquisition/ ingestion, transformation and storage build on various Amazon Web Services (AWS) like EMR, S3, Redshift, Lambda and other AWS offerings. You will also provide technical guidance regarding the architecture of the data science/ML/AI parts build around R, Python, EMR, SAS, SageMaker and other data science tools.
To succeed in this position, you should have technical experience and a sincere interest in exploring new technologies. In addition to this you are expected to understand the technologies involved in the components that makes up the data lake, data science, ML and AI solutions, and you know how these are integrated.
In the role as Data Engineer, you will also act as trusted technical advisor on one or more projects within Big Data and Analytics for our Business Partners as well as your colleagues in the team. In collaboration with the IT Architects in Data Management & Analytics and 3rd party suppliers, you will be directly responsible for leading and defining the end-to-end architecture of solutions build on our data lake and analytics platform as well as maturing the platform.
Qualifications
First of all, you are curious by nature, a fast-learner and willing to go the extra mile to succeed on the journey, the team is embarking on.
You have a Master's degree in relevant field and hands-on experience working with contemporary cloud technologies, including data lake and advanced analytics as well as the integration of these.
Perhaps you have a background within software development, and have moved into a technical role, advising or leading projects delivering data lake and analytical solutions. You are used to being in a position, where the ability to have the helicopter view while at the same time digging into details is a must to provide the best possible technical advice. Furthermore, you have experience working within a regulated industry or are eager to learn what that entails as complexity is a motivating factor for you.
You have a ‘can do’ mind-set required to try out new setups and solutions. You are known for your ability to understand complex technical matters, form an educated opinion and communicate these in a simple way to your stakeholders, so they can reach informed decisions based on your input. You can convince others to accept new concepts, practices and approaches and are excellent in communicating and handling stakeholders at all levels of the organisation, in different geographies and across cultures.
We need a colleague, who have knowledge of cloud-based data lake and big data technologies preferable on Amazon Web Services. And you have strong programming skills preferably in Python and have good knowledge of SQL.
To succeed in this role, it is crucial that you thrive with working in teams where we work together to achieve common goals and where we are relying on each other.
Finally, you must possess a strong work ethic and have the willingness to take responsibility for your own learning and value that you play an important role in making lives easier for people living with diabetes and other chronic diseases. Since you will be working in a global environment, you must expect some meetings to take place outside DK working hours and some travel activity.
Fluency in English (Oral and written) is a prerequisite. The position is based in Bagsværd, Denmark.
