Physical Asset Management in Danske Commodities

Danske Commodities is an energy trading company that specialises in short-term power and gas trading and offers balancing, optimisation and hedging services to energy producers and suppliers. Every day, we complete more than 15,000 trades across 39 countries, constantly moving energy from where there is more than needed to where it is needed most. Our Physical Asset Management team handles all aspects of our asset portfolio across Europe. Our key tasks include pricing, forecasting and day-ahead trading. We are a young and motivated team consisting of five committed portfolio managers. Each portfolio manager is an expert within one or several markets, and as a team we cover the entire European power market, working closely together with traders and originators to enhance the performance of each portfolio as well as setting the strategic direction going forward.

The ideal candidate for this position can either be graduating from university this summer or have experience from a similar position. No matter your level of experience, you will start by getting a thorough introduction to DC, the energy trading industry, the team and your tasks as a portfolio manager. After a solid onboarding, you will take the responsibility for a set of our existing portfolios of renewables and consumption assets, interacting with stakeholders across the entire value chain within Danske Commodities. You will play an important role in enhancing the performance of the portfolio by performing portfolio analyses, developing trading and market strategies and building operational tools and forecasting models.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • handle a portfolio of renewables and consumption assets
  • perform portfolio analyses and monitor the portfolio PnL and risk
  • develop, implement and improve forecasting and pricing models and tools
  • follow up on analyses/forecast performance and take ownership of improvements
  • be available to take shift routines in the forecasting team, working on weekdays as well as weekends
  • contribute to business development

QUALIFICATIONS

we expect that you:

  • hold a relevant Master’s or PhD degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Physics, Engineering or similar (or are about to graduate)
  • preferably, have experience with – or as a minimum an interest in learning – programming languages such as R, VBA, Python, C# and SQL
  • have high proficiency in English, both written and verbal

  • are able to analyse, reflect and act fast – you will be responsible for identifying new business opportunities and quickly follow up on them
  • have a positive attitude: no job too big, no job too small – the pace is high in DC and within the team we often have to support each other in getting the job done
