We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Cost Controller to join our team. The Cost Controller will play a critical role in managing the financial health of our projects, ensuring that costs are monitored, controlled, and maintained within the approved budget. The ideal candidate will work closely with project managers and various departments to ensure accurate cost reporting and forecasting, while identifying areas for cost optimization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Cost Monitoring and Control:
    • Oversee project budgets and ensure that expenditures remain within approved limits.
    • Track, monitor, and control costs associated with materials, labor, and other project resources.
    • Identify and report cost variances, and collaborate with project managers to implement corrective actions.
  • Budgeting and Forecasting:
    • Prepare detailed cost estimates and budgets for new and ongoing projects.
    • Regularly update cost forecasts based on project progress, risks, and changes in scope.
    • Assist in the development of financial models and projections to support decision-making.
  • Cost Reporting:
    • Generate regular cost control reports that provide visibility into project financials.
    • Prepare variance analyses comparing actual costs to budgeted costs and explain deviations.
    • Present cost performance data to management and stakeholders, highlighting trends and key findings.
  • Risk Management:
    • Identify potential cost risks and develop mitigation strategies to minimize financial exposure.
    • Recommend cost-saving measures and improvements to maintain budget integrity.
    • Work closely with procurement teams to ensure competitive pricing for materials and services.
  • Project Coordination:
    • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and finance teams to ensure alignment between project goals and cost management.
    • Provide input on contract negotiations and ensure financial aspects are well-covered in agreements.
    • Assist in the planning of resources and work schedules to optimize financial efficiency.
  • Financial Compliance:
    • Ensure that all financial processes comply with internal and external auditing standards and policies.
    • Support internal and external audits by providing accurate and timely cost data.
Job requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a Cost Controller or in a similar role (minimum 3-5 years).
  • Proficiency in financial management software and tools (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or equivalent).
  • Strong understanding of cost control techniques and financial analysis.
  • Excellent analytical and numerical skills.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving abilities.
Nice to have
  • Experience in oil and gas, petrochemical sector
  • Familiarity with project management methodologies and cost estimation techniques.
  • Certification such as CMA (Certified Management Accountant) or equivalent is an advantage.
