Consultant Doctor – will you help shape the future of King Christian X´s Hospital for Rheumatic Diseases? King Christian X’s Hospital for Rheumatic Diseases, Graasten, Denmark A permanent position as a consultant at King Christian X’s Hospital for Rheumatic Diseases in Graasten, Denmark is open for appointment on 1 August 2015 or as soon as possible thereafter. The position includes functions in the outpatient clinic, inpatient wards and in day wards for patients in biological treatment. There are good opportunities to participate in research and in treating patients in biological treatment. Depending on his/her skills and interests and upon agreement, our new consultant will be assigned responsibility for specific rheumatologic areas such as the responsibility for the development of an advanced ambulatory function regarding inflammatory, axial and peripheral arthritis in collaboration with the research department. Our new consultant is a specialist in rheumatology and passionate about taking responsibility and actively participating in the creation of therapeutic, interdisciplinary synergies that create dynamic initiatives so that the hospital is vibrant with positive energy. There are plans to move the hospital to other facilities in the town of Soenderborg in/around 2017. In this context, there will be ample opportunity as a new consultant to participate in efforts to influence the academic and therapeutic direction for the future Hospital. You will be part of: A medical staff group that currently consists of seven consultants. In addition, there are seven doctors, including one principal training position and one junior position, both in internal medicine: rheumatology. The department is assigned a senior doctor with responsibility for training/education. Along with the other consultants, you will also be involved in the training of doctors. A separated research unit with 1 professor, 3 associated professors and 4 Ph.D. students is connected to the University of Southern Denmark. Depending on qualifications up to 20% of the duty can be dedicated to research under the responsibility of the research unit and if possible with a future option to qualify for a position as associated professor. About King Christian X’s Hospital for Rheumatic Diseases: King Christian X’s Hospital for Rheumatic Diseases is owned and operated by the Danish Rheumatism Association, and is Denmark's only hospital with an exclusively rheumatological function. The hospital is equipped with adequate resources and technologies, including our own laboratory, Dexa scan, x-ray and MRI department, ultrasound clinic, etc. The Hospital handles the rheumatologic function for South Jutland Hospital, and receives patients with both inflammatory and non-inflammatory disorders. The Danish ‘free choice of hospital’ regulation means that the Hospital receives rheumatology patients from across the country in both inpatient and outpatient care. The hospital has 45 beds and treats approx. 820 inpatients annually and 21,500 outpatients. There has been an increase in ambulatory activity in the day unit, where all biological treatment is carried out. The Hospital operates a progressive division of tasks between doctors and nurses. Staff have long-standing experience in close interdisciplinary clinical co-operation, including rheumatological rehabilitation of complex rheumatologic problems during hospitalisation. Research at the Hospital is strong and vibrant. It is organised in a separate research unit, led by a clinical professor who works with clinical associate professors, PhD students, and also permanent staff. The daily operation of King Christian X's Hospital for Rheumatic Diseases is administered by a hospital management consisting of a hospital manager, a senior consultant and a senior nurse. The Hospital management work within a joint management framework. All staff have extensive experience in dialogue-based management and a flat management structure and there is increased delegation of operational management responsibility to multidisciplinary management teams. Our priorities are that you: • will meet the Region of Southern Denmark’s requirements outlined in the guidelines for academic assessment of consultant doctor candidates in the Region of Southern Denmark in Internal Medicine: Rheumatology; • along with other hospital consultants, will carry out rheumatological functions in clinical activity in the outpatient clinic, inpatient ward and day unit, including participating in teaching medical students and care staff, and be involved in research activities; • are highly qualified in general and specifically within an agreed specialism with specific responsibilities, including the impact on organisational quality development and its accomplishment; • have experience of rheumatological ultrasound or want to develop your knowledge; • have experience and research interests in MRI in relation to a specifically agreed area of responsibility and wants to develop this area; • are a good communicator; • have a high level of commitment and good interpersonal skills, together with training and teaching experience; • work in accordance with the organisation's goals, values, visions and work activities.
