Kalundborg Utility is a multi-utility company owned by Kalundborg Municipality but operated as a private enterprise. As a monopoly company, Kalundborg Utility is not allowed to generate annual profits.

Kalundborg Utility supplies its customers with water, heat, and treats the city's wastewater.

Additionally, Kalundborg is home to a significant industrial sector that is supported by Kalundborg Utility through the provision of its three types of water (groundwater, surface water from Tissø Lake, and desalinated water), wastewater treatment, heat, and a new addition: district cooling.

Kalundborg Utility has a clear ambition to operate a sustainable utility and is therefore involved in climate adaptation projects and urban renewal with a focus on health, environment, and nature. For this reason, Kalundborg Utility is also part of Kalundborg Symbiosis, the world's oldest industrial symbiosis, and maintains a close collaboration with educational institutions in the city.

Kalundborg Utility participates in several research projects, including the purification of wastewater for industrial process water (ULTIMATE HORIZON 2020, EU), commercialization of Power-to-X, and other initiatives. As part of these projects, Kalundborg Utility hosts international interns and welcomes interns from local educational institutions.

Kalundborg Utility is a certified company according to ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 22000, and ISO 45001 standards. This formal certification signifies the company's commitment to continuously improve, develop, and showcase its work processes in quality assurance, environmental management, food safety, and occupational health and safety. Starting from 2024, Kalundborg Utility will also engage in ESG reporting
