PhD in Chemical, Physical Sciences or Engineering with a specialisation in polymers
Within the Materials Area, the tasks that the person chosen would have to carry out would consist of the following:
Carrying out national and international projects developed in collaboration with other research centres and companies. These projects are related to new synthesis routes for obtaining biopolymers (PLA, PHB,...), modification and formulation of polymers à la carte, incorporation of new materials in the packaging market, photovoltaic materials, waste recovery.
Implementation of plastic transformation processes (extrusion, compression,...).
Presentation of research results to customers and promotion of synergies aimed at developing new spin-off projects.
Contribution to the increase of knowledge in the area through dynamics of continuous updating of the state of the art.
Frequent participation in congresses, conferences, symposia and other national and international media.
In addition, validation of micro and macrostructural characterisation tests (thermal analysis: DSC, TGA, DMA, spectroscopic analysis (FTIR/ ATR), chromatography (HPLC/GPC), mechanical analysis (traction, compression, hardness, etc.), non-destructive inspection, etc.).
Studies required: PhD in one of the following disciplines: Chemical Sciences, Physical Sciences, Engineering, or another STEM career related to new polymeric materials, composites, Bioplastics. And their transformation/recycling processes.
It will be an asset: - Master / Postgraduate: Advanced Chemistry or new materials belonging to the Health / Science / Agro area - Other Complementary Training: specific courses on processing of new plastic materials, composites, etc... (extrusion, injection or others) and characterisation applied to polymeric materials, courses related to characterisation (thermal, spectral, chromatographic,...) - Languages: fluent spoken and written English (You will actively participate in international projects). Knowledge of German and/or French would be an asset.
We are looking for a person with teamwork and social skills in communication, organised and responsible.
