Plant Protection Products Residues Scientific Assistant

We are looking for a scientific assistant for the Pesticides Residues unit.

Job responsibilities: 

• Assist in the coordination of the assessment of evaluation reports prepared by member state regulatory authorities in the area of pesticide residues in food and feed, in view of setting Maximum Residue Levels; 
• Assist in the proofreading of reasoned opinions. Providing information on procedural/legislative/policy aspects of questions related to the work of the Pesticides Residues Unit including requests from other European institutions, international bodies, member states and the general public; 
• Collect and collate data and information for preparing scientific materials; 
• Analyse and evaluate data for preparing working documents related to the scientific assessment. 
• Project management of scientific production processes; 
• Draft clear, concise, and structured opinions using appropriate scientific terminology; 
• Generate, collect and collate evidence; understand and interpret reports in order to compile evidence;
• Search databases in order to collect evidence. 

Skills: 

• Excellent knowledge of English (at least B2 level);
• 1 year of relevant working experience;
• Knowledge of Plant Protection Products Residues, risk assessment methodologies, data and information management; 
• Basic knowledge of the EU regulatory framework in the area of food, feed or consumer safety; 
• Experience in drafting clear, concise and structured scientific reports and publications using appropriate scientific terminology; 
• Proficiency in IT tools (MS office, databases, internet browsers);
• Working with others, analysis and problem solving, drive for results. 

Assignment: initial contract 2/3 months, with possibility of extensions. Initially working from home, relocation required at a second stage.
