Senior Consultant in Orthopedic Surgery wanted for Bornholms Hospital

About the position:


This position will be full-time or part-time, on call from your dwelling. You will only be responsible for orthopedic surgery patients; the amount of work on workdays will be 4 hours, while during weekends 6 hours per shift. We are looking to fill this position as soon as possible.

Who are we:
Our Surgical Department is a mixed, general surgery department, divided into three independent specialities – orthopaedic surgery, surgery and gynaecology/obstetrics. You will be making up the orthopaedic surgery team together with four other specialists.
The Surgical Department has been assigned twelve specialist positions and nine junior physician positions. The hospital offers extensive consulting services at several levels, also comprising cooperation with external specialists.

 

The Department has one bed unit with 36 beds, 10-15 same-day surgery beds divided among the three specialities, and a well-functional surgical outpatient unit.

 

The orthopedic surgery team handles elective and acute investigation and treatment of patients with orthopedic surgery ailments. In addition, supplementary consulting activities are carried out, comprising investigation and surgical treatment of ailments in foot or ankle, eyes, ENT and plastic surgery.

Well-functioning, extensive same-day surgery unit. Alloplastic surgery is performed using the Fast-Track concept.
Advanced, well-equipped surgical unit with its own surgery lines during daytime.

The Department has an obligation to train physicians within the clinical basic training program and provides specialist training positions in internal medicine.

The position involves busy, interesting everyday work together with good, stable, committed and competent staff members and colleagues. A friendly atmosphere in an open environment with close daily cooperation allows great influence on the organisation and management of your work.
 

Who are you?
You are a specialist in orthopedic surgery with broad training in basic traumatology, trauma reception following ATLS, with a senior consultant in anesthesiology as trauma leader with advance on-call duty.
In addition, you are responsible for one of the sub-specialities of the field, such as shoulder, alloplastic surgery, foot surgery or arthroscopy and sports.
You take an interest in optimising patient pathways on the basis of continuity of patient treatment, with few different staff contacts in the individual patient pathway.
You will be committed to the teaching of junior physicians.
You are a good communicator, you cooperate well, are ready for change, visible and dynamic, and you are able to work independently and as part of a team.

Salary and terms of employment:
Employment will be in accordance with the labour market agreement for senior consultants concluded between the association of specialist physicians (FAS) and the Salaries and Rates Board of the Danish Regions.
In addition to the basic salary, a recruitment supplement of DKK 50,000 (31.03.00 prices) shall be paid per year.

Bornholms Hospital is located in Rønne; the hospital is the only hospital on the island and services the 42,000 residents of the island. Bornholm cooperates extensively with the other hospitals of the Capital Region, in particular with Copenhagen University Hospital.

Bornholms Hospital has approx. 600 staff members and 122 patient beds for medical, surgical and oncological patients. Advanced image diagnostics, including MRI scanner.

Bornholm is an island rich in scenery and nature, with an amazing history and a diversity of artists, who together with the wonderful nature and the good beaches for taking a dip make the island an attractive destination for holiday-makers. During the tourist season, the population thus increases from 42,000 to about three times as many. Bornholm offers great opportunities for outdoor activities, such as sailing, angling, golf and hiking.
