We are now looking for a (Senior) Business Analyst to join our growing Customer Analytics team in Wärtsilä Voyage. We are part of a Customer Success organisation where Customer Engagement is increasingly important to improve customer satisfaction and build long lasting business relationships.

Customer Analytics helps the customer to achieve energy savings and improve their fleet operations through delivering unique insight into vessel performance, based on real-time data collected from ships around the world and advanced analytics. Our team works closely with the customer and internal development teams to translate customer needs and feedback into the best possible products.

This is a position for you, if you are passionate about using data to generate tangible business impact, support decision making and build customer engagement. We provide an international front-row seat to digital transformation of traditional maritime industry. You will be a part of an experienced team tackling real-life challenges related to big data and analytics. You will work very closely with the customer and our team to ensure that clear operational insights will be given to the customer, feedback is taken into account and customer service is top notch.

The position is permanent and preferably located in Miami, Florida, USA with hybrid remote work possibilities. Location can also be Southern/Central Europe or Finland (Helsinki, Turku, Vaasa).

As a Senior Business Analyst in Customer Analytics, your main responsibility is to:

  • Provide insight to our customers based on data, enriched data and solutions to improve vessel performance
  • Craft and develop new analytics services based on key customers’ needs
  • Perform one off analysis based on collected customer data
  • Collaborate with other team members to ensure high customer satisfaction and value delivered
  • Effective presentation and communication of analytics solutions to the customer
  • Standardize, productize, scale and maintain existing analytics services
     

In order to be successful in this role, you need to be organized, proactive, have a passion for Big Data and a desire to become a hardcore professional in the field of turning data into powerful insight. In addition to positive attitude and the ability to work proactively, we expect you to have:

  • At least M.Sc. degree in a relevant field, such as statistics, information technology or engineering, or equivalent experience
  • Previous experience in the Marine Industry and Vessel Performance Optimization
  • 3-6 years of experience in a similar role
  • Customer Service attitude
  • Experience in data analysis and data visualization
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Project Management Skills (Strong communication, expectation management, deliver on time)
  • Excellent team work as well as communication skills
  • Experience in working with big amounts of numerical (time-series) data
  • Fluency in English language
     

We also value previous experience in the following areas:

  • BI tools experience (Tableau, Power BI, etc.)
  • Experience in Python programming
  • Knowledge of Tableau or similar visualization tool
