Job description;

As a junior mechanical engineer/operator for energy and bio-power plants you will be trained to become a full-fledged mechanical engineer and work in a dynamic team that operates the power plant and, when necessary, adjusts the production process.

You will work with a processs automation system to monitor the process and adjust controls when needed. In addition to automatic process control, a physical check of the installations is of course required, so you and your colleagues regularly walk through the plant for inspection. In the event of a malfunction you will perform the analysis yourself and make an estimate of the urgency. To carry out repairs or replacements you will engage the maintenance teams for mechanical engineering or electrical, control, and instrumentation (EC&I). With your experience and drive for optimal performance you will use LEAN tools to ensure continuous improvement of production and work processes.

You will ensure on a daily basis that the power plant is operated safely, reliably and in an environmentally conscious and cost-effective manner.

As a junior mechanical engineer/operator for energy and bio-power plants, you will:

• contribute to a safe, efficient, and sustainable operation of the energy-producing units (combined cycle power plants and biomass installations) and the district heating network of Utrecht & Nieuwegein;
• monitor, under the supervision of your senior, the safety of the installation, the process, permits, and work procedures;
• analyze and resolve malfunctions (first line);
• provide support and coordination during major maintenance;
• contribute to and support the continuous improvement of processes and the development of instructions and procedures;
• work in shifts with corresponding shift bonus.

Job requirements;

• You have an associate degree in all-round operations technician (AOT) or mechanical engineering and you are willing to obtain your REWIC-A certificate.
• You have a strong affinity with technology.
• You are proactive, flexible, stress-resistant and you have a sense of humor.
• You are eager to quickly familiarize yourself with the installations and work processes.
• You have a critical and analytical mind.
• You can work both independently and in a team.
• You have a valid driver's license.

It is mandatory that you live in a European country.
