A maintenance technician is required for a large food manufacturing plant in the Co. Kildare. The company are seeking a self motivated and enthusiastic individual to work within the Maintenance Department delivering a high-quality maintenance service to production and the site wide facility. You will be part of a multi-disciplined team of Fitters & Electricians in ensuring all maintenance work is carried out in an effective and efficient manner.

Responsibilities associated with this role include, but are not limited to:

·         Providing maintenance support, both reactive repairs and planned maintenance within the manufacturing & office facility

·         Carry out installations and commissioning of plant/ equipment & trouble shooting of same

·         Carry out basic programming and diagnostic of plant and equipment

·         Contribute to the efficiency of the operation by maximizing uptime of machinery & minimise downtime in production and utility areas

·         Carry out the execution of the preventive maintenance programs

·         Troubleshooting using PLC Programs (Allen Bradley, Siemens, General Electric and Schneider Electric PLCs)

·         Technical support for all the plant facilities (including but not limited to compressed air & refrigeration

·         Support and participate in all Environmental, Health and Safety and Quality activities.

·         Carry out engineering work orders in a timely and safe manner while maintaining adherence to cGMP

·         As part of the Maintenance team, you will need to work with equipment suppliers on new equipment, installations, and modifications

·         Assist the Health & Safety team in carrying out risk assessments of new & existing machines and ensuring training is rolled out to the Maintenance Team

·         Have working knowledge/ experience with a “Lock -out Tag-out” programme

·         Adheres to all site policies on Quality, Health & safety, e.g. clean overalls, clean work boots, hair nets, hearing protection, hand washing, LOTO etc

·         All relevant information is passed to the Engineering manager in a timely and efficient manner

·         Closely monitor line, machine performance and improve where possible

·         Fully support the line leaders/ line support i.e., Overtime, shifts cover, phone support & callouts

·         Overseeing of contractors on site

·         Provide general maintenance support as designated by supervisors/ manager to include any or all the following areas: Process equipment; HVAC equipment; Refrigeration; Packaging Equipment

·         Provide the Engineering Department with the highest levels of support. Analyzing plant downtime levels and implementing effective strategies to increase uptime

·         Ensure that Engineering Manager and other area Mangers are kept informed of significant developments within their areas

Experience within a food manufacturing environment is essential to the role. Along with experience of a wide range of Motor Control Systems & Process Temperature Controls & Pneumatic's

·         Experience of safety systems to manage work of internal resources and external contractors utilising Isolation / Lock-off procedures, Risk Assessment and Permit to Work

·         Involvement in lean projects and process improvements

·         To maintain Plant and Equipment at Optimum performance and provide utilities to Manufacturing Departments and General Plant to achieve organizational annual plan

·         Understand Food Safety policies and legislation (BRC & ISO)

·         A relevant third level qualification in Engineering or time-served Electrician or fitter (Electrical/ Mechanical Qualification/ Mechanical Experience)

·         Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a maintenance role, planned and reactive maintenance

skills

·         PLC/ PC Control Systems experience

·         Previous experience at identifying & execute machine / line improvement projects (lean initiatives)

·         Experience working with Quality and Health & Safety departments

·         Excellent awareness and demonstrated successes in a team environment with the ability to influence and bring people along

·         Experience of machine control diagnostics

·         As the Maintenance Technician, you must have strong interpersonal, communication and problem-solving skills, as well as an analytical, decisive approach

·         Experience using a Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to carry out routine work and to record breakdowns and ensure that the preventive maintenance programme is being carried out and performed in full on time

·         There will also be a requirement to be on-call in this role
