We are looking for an ambitious leader to be responsible for analytical development within our Chemical & Pharmaceutical Development (C&PD) organization. C&PD is responsible for the CMC development and innovation of new drug candidates based on chemically synthesized molecules. The division consists of four groups covering Process Chemistry, Solid Form Science, Pharmaceutical Development and Analytical Development. We strive to develop new innovative treatments to help improve the lives of patients suffering from brain diseases. As the Director for Analytical Development, you will report to the Vice President of C&PD.

 

The Analytical Development department consists of approximately 20 employees who together are responsible for analytical development and QC activities for Small Molecule development candidates. Activities in the department will be both GMP and non-GMP and span from Research support to transfer of methods to commercial production. The analytical development activities include both Drug Substance and Drug Product development which are distributed across internal labs and external specialized CMO’s. Your workplace will be in Valby with frequent visits to the second C&PD lab in Lumsås.

Highlights from responsibilities

As Director, you will take on leadership for scientists working in project teams and on individual analytical development tasks as well as two analytical labs led by a Senior Manager, who reports to you. Based on close collaboration with your leadership colleagues, CMOs and project teams, you will coordinate planning and analytical support to ensure aligned goals are reached.

In your role as people manager, you will motivate and lead employees, develop competencies & processes and organize activities. You will be responsible for budget planning and overview as well as conducting performance talks according to Lundbeck policies and standards.

You will become member of the C&PD leadership team, be part of leading and guiding the CMC development of small molecules, transform strategic aspirations and project plans into deliverables within the Analytical Development department and participate in scientific and operational discussions to ensure ambitions are fulfilled, plans aligned, and prioritizations communicated and implemented.

 

Example on professional and/or interpersonal competencies

Our preferred candidate has the following personal and professional qualifications:

  • Experience from a position working with analytical development in the pharmaceutical industry working according to GMP, ICH and USP guidelines.
  • A background supporting an interest in UHPLC/HPLC, GC, MS, SFC and/or other analytical chemical methods, a thorough understanding of separation theory and development of different analytical methods.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, either as people manager, scientist or project manager, with a proven ability to develop employees and drive engagement.
  • Ability to set direction and translate business priorities into plans and scientific tasks.
  • A broad understanding of drug development incl. chemical & pharmaceutical development processes.
  • Strong analytical skills, enjoy working with complex challenges and have the ability to identify structured solutions to problems.
  • A MSc or PhD within natural science; preferable within Chemistry or Pharmaceutical Science.
  • Fluent in spoken and written English.
